Problem

Asthma and other breathing illnesses are just as much of a problem in undeveloped and developing countries as they are in the USA. In the higher altitudes, this becomes a critical issue since the air is already thinner leaving a much smaller quantity of oxygen for the child to breathe. If a ventilator is needed for a critical patient and none is available-they will die.

The Gift

Childrens Cross Connection International can provide pediatric ventilators and nebulizers to these facilities to use in treatment of these little patients gasping for air. Because they live in dusty, dirty surroundings in one season and in rainy, moldy ones during the rainy season, it is little wonder that their lungs cannot cope with the environment. Malnutrition and extreme poverty in many cases make their lives very hard and healing from any sort of insult difficult. CCCI wants to give the caregivers in the local facilities the opportunity to give the children the chance to breathe deeply again, to be able to go to school because they feel up to it, to be able to contribute to the family farm, and maybe even play a little soccer.
