Buy School Supplies
School supplies
Problem
The children need paper, pencils, rulers, protractors--all the things that a child needs in class to do the work to learn their lessons. But there is no money to buy the supplies. How can they feed eager minds when the supplies are nonexistent? Most households have at least 7-10 people in them and are being run on about $35 per month TOTAL income. There is little money left for school supplies when parents need to buy food, seed, medicine, and other family needs.
The Gift
We will ensure that the children in El Salvadore and Ethiopia where we have active programs in place will receive the school supplies that they need to succeed in school. We will buy pencils, paper, erasers, rulers, small calculators, compasses, protractors, notebooks, and, yes, even a computer or two when we can. Your gift of $10 pays for about a year's worth of supplies for three grade school children! That's 12 pencils, 3 erasers, 3 rulers, 3 three-subject notebooks, and a bookbag for each. The upper grade children, of course, require more, but it is still very cost effective.
